Police said that this incident happened on Saturday night. A mob of 100 people broke the gate of Shingar police station, damaged the flower pots. There was heavy vandalism in the police station premises. The police officer said that angry people beat up ASI Surinder Singh. People injured another policeman.
Vehicle stopped for checking near the police station
Police said that the dispute started when a shopkeeper riding a scooter was stopped at a check post near the police station for driving at high speed. The shopkeeper’s son was also riding on the scooter. Police said that there was a heated argument between the shopkeeper and the policemen at the post. After this he was brought to the police station but he ran away from there.
Police is checking CCTV footage
Police officials said that after some time the shopkeeper reached the police station with about 100 people and attacked. Police said that CCTV footage of the area is being checked to identify the shopkeeper and his supporters. Legal action will be taken after identifying all the accused.
