An Aam Aadmi Party leader has been murdered in Jalandhar, Punjab. Aam Aadmi Party leader Lucky Oberoi was shot in the Model Town area on Friday morning. The incident occurred outside the Gurdwara Sahib in Model Town. Unidentified assailants fired approximately 15 to 16 rounds, killing him. Lucky Oberoi’s relative, Kuldeep Oberoi, confirmed Lucky’s death. Lucky was injured by the gunshot but was declared dead at the hospital. The incident has created an atmosphere of panic in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers suddenly attacked Lucky Oberoi, who was travelling in a THAR vehicle. The sound of the gunfire created panic in the area. People ran in different directions, and nearby shopkeepers immediately closed their shutters. Lucky Oberoi was hit by five or six bullets. Police arrived at the scene immediately after receiving information, sealed off the area, and began an investigation. Evidence collection has already begun. Several empty bullet cartridges were recovered from the scene and handed over to the forensic team for examination. Police are also reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the attackers. The body has also been taken into custody.
Death in Hospital
It was reported that after the shooting, the injured Lucky Oberoi was first taken to a nearby hospital, from where, due to his critical condition, he was referred to a private hospital. However, Lucky Oberoi died at the hospital. Lucky Oberoi was close to Jalandhar Cantt in-charge Rajwinder Kaur Thiara. His wife had contested the municipal elections but lost.
Tension in the Area
Nevertheless, tension prevails in the area following the incident. Police deployment has been increased and security has been tightened to deal with any untoward incident. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers are deeply angry over the incident. Party leaders have demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.
Police Launch Investigation
Police officials say that the case is being investigated from every angle. Initial investigations do not rule out the possibility of an attack due to personal enmity or political reasons. However, the attackers have not yet been identified, and the police claim to solve the case soon.
