14 people died after consuming poisonous liquor in Amritsar, Punjab. While the condition of 5 is said to be critical, who have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

14 people have died and at least 6 people are in critical condition due to consumption of poisonous liquor in several villages of Amritsar, Punjab. Many people have died due to consumption of poisonous liquor in villages Tharayewal, Mardi and Bhangali. According to the information, more than a dozen labourers have died due to consumption of this poisonous liquor, after which the Punjab government has taken a big action in the case and arrested the main accused Prabhjit Singh.
According to the information, Prabhjit Singh is the mastermind who supplies fake liquor. The SSP of Amritsar Rural has confirmed that a case has been registered under section 105 BNS and 61A Excise Act. The arrested accused include Kulbir Singh alias Jaggu (brother of main accused Prabhjit), Sahib Singh alias Sarai, Gurjat Singh and Ninder Kaur.
The police is investigating the entire fake liquor network. Also, the Punjab government has indicated that strict action will be taken in the case. The AAP government has indicated that the liquor mafia should not be spared.
Talking about this matter, Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni said, “This is a case of Majitha in Punjab. Some people had consumed poisonous liquor here and in the night itself we started getting news from 5 villages that people’s health was deteriorating. On this, we immediately called our medical team and even now our medical team is visiting homes and investigating. 14 people have died in this accident and the government is providing full assistance. Our team is visiting people’s homes and checking up”.
She said, “The people from whom this liquor was taken or the distributors or those who supplied it have all been arrested and the rest of its tracing is under investigation. Apart from this, recovery is also being done. Along with this, medical assistance is being given to the people in the village itself”.
