Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 pm today, the Prime Minister’s Office announced. However, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) did not give any indication about the subject of his address this evening. The PMO said on X, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 pm today.”
His address will take place on the eve of Navratri. The GST rate cut will come into effect from the first day of Navratri and is expected to reduce prices on a wide range of products.
PM Modi has previously made major announcements during his addresses to the nation, such as demonetization in 2016 or India’s successful test of a satellite-destroying missile in 2019. This test placed India among a select group of countries with such a capability.
He also engaged directly with the public through his addresses after the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, informing them about the lockdown, offering suggestions, or highlighting the government’s measures to combat one of the most serious health crises to affect the country and the world.
