Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Malaysia starting Saturday, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in the areas of trade, investment, energy, and maritime security. The Ministry of External Affairs announced this on Wednesday.
This will be Prime Minister Modi’s third visit to Malaysia and his first since the elevation of India-Malaysia bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in August 2024.
During the visit, Modi will hold bilateral talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
He will also interact with members of the Indian community and representatives from the business sector, the ministry added.
The 10th India-Malaysia CEO Forum will also be held during the Prime Minister’s visit.
“India and Malaysia share age-old ties based on historical, civilizational, and cultural linkages,” the Ministry of External Affairs said.
“This relationship is further strengthened by the presence of a 2.9 million-strong Indian diaspora in Malaysia, which is the third largest Indian diaspora globally,” the ministry added.
