राष्ट्रपति मुर्मू ने उत्तराखंड के यूसीसी बिल को दी मंजूरी
Uttarakhand’s Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill has received the approval of President Draupadi Murmu. With this, a law has now been made on Uniform Civil Code. Let us tell you that after the independence of the country, Uttarakhand has become the first state to implement UCC. For this, the Uttarakhand government has constituted a 5-member committee to make rules/bye-laws to implement the Common Civil Code. However, after the rules are made, it will be implemented in the entire state by the Uttarakhand government. CM Dhami has also congratulated the people of the state regarding this. Said, UCC will prove the importance of social equality in the state.
These 5 members will decide the rules in the committee
Let us tell you that the 5-member committee making rules to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) includes former IAS Shatrughan Singh, social worker Manu Gaur, Doon University Vice Chancellor Surekha Dangwal, Additional Director General of Police Amit Sinha and local officials of Uttarakhand. Commissioner Ajay Mishra is included. This committee will soon hold a meeting and start the work of making necessary rules and bye-laws to implement the UCC law.
CM Dhami had presented the bill on 6 February
Let us inform that on 6 February 2024, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had introduced the Uniform Civil Code, Uttarakhand-2024 Bill in the Assembly. The bill introduced in the House by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had 392 sections, out of which the number of sections related to succession alone was 328. Since Uniform Civil Code is a subject of the Concurrent List, both the State and the Center can make laws on this subject. But if there is a law on the same issue, the Central law is considered effective. That is why this bill, after being passed by the Uttarakhand Assembly, was sent for the President’s approval.
Many Muslim organizations agreed
After the implementation of the Common Civil Code law, it is believed that communal polarization may increase in the Lok Sabha elections. Some leaders allege that it is against the Muslim community, while the BJP and the Central Government have been continuously calling it equally useful for all classes and a revolutionary step taken towards development. Many Muslim organizations and women’s rights organizations have also agreed with the government’s stance.
