Air Force Chief Civil Engineer SN Mishra (51) was shot dead on Saturday morning in Air Force Colony of Puramufti police station in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, when he was sleeping in a room of his house. According to the police, someone knocked on the window and as soon as Mishra opened the window, the criminal shot him and fled. There was a stir after the murder of the Chief Engineer in Air Force Colony of Bamrauli. Top police officials reached the spot in a hurry and took stock of the incident.
Puramufti police station in-charge Manoj Singh said that on Saturday morning, Indian Air Force Civil Engineer SN Mishra was sleeping in a room at his house, when someone knocked on the window. As soon as Mishra opened the window, an unknown person shot him. He told that the bullet hit his chest and he got injured. He was immediately taken to the Army Hospital, where he died during treatment. Singh said that the body has been sent for post-mortem.
The police officer said that Mishra’s family consists of his wife and son, while his daughter studies in Lucknow. Hearing the gunshot, the other family members sleeping in the other room woke up. When they came out, they saw SN Mishra lying in a pool of blood. The family members informed the police about the incident. SN Mishra was taken to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
Prayagraj DIG Ajay Pal said that Bamrauli is a high security area of the Air Force. Security personnel guard it 24 hours a day. The Chief Engineer’s house falls in the North Zone of the Central Air Command. In such a situation, it is being investigated how the attackers crossed the boundary of the colony and reached his house. CCTV footage is also being examined.
The DIG said that the police is also investigating from the angle that whether the Chief Engineer had any personal enmity with anyone.
