Police didn’t allow me to meet minor rape victim: DCW chief Maliwal, ends dharna at hospital

A senior Delhi government official has been taken into custody for allegedly raping a minor girl. The police also took the wife of the accused into custody.

Delhi Women’s Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal continues to protest at the hospital in the capital where the minor rape victim has been admitted. Swati Maliwal tweeted, “Since 12 noon yesterday, I am sitting outside the hospital to meet the victim girl or her family. Slept outside the hospital at night. NCPCR can be introduced to the girl’s mother, so why have I been asked to stop? What are you trying to hide?

Speaking to news agency ANI, Swati Maliwal said, “Delhi Police is doing hooliganism. They are neither allowing me to meet the girl nor her mother. I don’t understand how Delhi Police is asking me to What is there to hide. I am told that the NCPCR chairman was allowed to meet the girl’s mother. When the NCPCR chairman can meet the girl’s mother, why is the DCW chief not being allowed?”

Maliwal said that a government official sitting on the post of Deputy Director in the Women and Child Development Department has been facing a serious allegation of sexual exploitation of a girl child. The police have not arrested him yet.
