A laborer was trapped—sustaining minor injuries—after a wall of a culvert under construction collapsed in the Jamsaut Panchayat of Danapur. Three other laborers had a narrow escape. This incident occurred at a culvert being built under the Chief Minister’s Rural Road Connectivity Scheme.

A major accident occurred on the Dhibra-Asopur road in the Jamsaut Panchayat of the block. The retaining wall on one side of a culvert, which was under construction, suddenly collapsed. Laborers were working at the site at the time of the incident. Chaos ensued the moment the wall fell. People present at the scene immediately rushed to offer assistance.
Laborer Trapped Under Wall; Rescue Operations Begin
Following the collapse, one laborer was trapped beneath the wall. Upon receiving news of the incident, locals and the police arrived at the scene. Relief and rescue operations were immediately initiated.
The debris was cleared with the help of a JCB machine. After a strenuous effort, the trapped laborer was successfully extracted. He sustained minor injuries and was sent for medical treatment.
Three Laborers Have a Narrow Escape
Three other laborers working at the site during the accident managed to escape unhurt. Had they been standing closer to the wall, the outcome could have been catastrophic. Locals described the incident as a major disaster narrowly averted.
A sense of panic prevails among the laborers following the incident. Construction work has also been temporarily halted. Questions regarding safety protocols and arrangements have begun to surface.
Construction Underway as Part of Rural Road Scheme
It is reported that the culvert was being constructed under the Chief Minister’s Rural Road Connectivity Scheme. The work was being carried out as part of Phase-2 of the Dhibra-Asopur project.
Retaining walls were being built on both sides of the culvert when, suddenly, the wall on one side collapsed. Questions are now being raised regarding the quality of the construction work, and locals are demanding an inquiry into the matter.
Administration Initiates Inquiry
The Block Development Officer (BDO) has confirmed the incident. He stated that one laborer sustained injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Furthermore, he added that an investigation is underway to determine the specific scheme under which the construction was being executed. Directives have been issued to ascertain the exact causes behind the incident.
Assurances have been given that action will be taken against those found responsible. The administration has commenced a serious and thorough investigation into the entire matter.
