The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a CRPF Jawan on charges of spying against the country. The accused jawan has been identified as Motiram, who was posted as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Jammu and Kashmir. According to media reports, while monitoring the social media handle of Motiram Jat (CRPF personnel Moti Ram Jat Arrested), some suspicious activities were detected. After this, CRPF and central intelligence agencies questioned him.

When strong evidence was found in the initial investigation, he was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Apart from this, CRPF dismissed him from service with immediate effect on the same day.

Sent sensitive information to Pakistani agents

NIA investigation has revealed that Moti Ram sent army deployment, security operations and other sensitive information to Pakistani agents in exchange for money. NIA registered a case under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and arrested him. The court has sent him to NIA custody for 15 days.

The court admitted that a thorough investigation of this case is necessary because it can pose a big threat to the security of the country. The court order also said that “the armed forces are the pillars of the country’s security, and any such act should be seriously investigated.”

19 people have been arrested so far

This incident has come to light at a time when the country’s intelligence and security agencies are keeping an eye on people associated with the Pakistani intelligence network. In the month of May itself, 19 people have been arrested in Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh on charges of leaking sensitive information related to the army and having contact with Pakistan.

This case has once again alerted the security agencies that enemy countries are trying to break into the Indian security forces through social media and other means.
