Not 40 but 41 laborers are trapped in Uttarkashi tunnel, administration gave information 7 days after the accident.

Till now the administration was saying that the number of laborers trapped in the tunnel was 40. Efforts are continuing for the 7th consecutive day to get everyone out safely. This rescue operation is becoming difficult every day. Sometimes the mountain is cracking, and sometimes the machine is breaking down.

This information was received from the latest list of 41 workers trapped in the tunnel released by Uttarkashi District Emergency Operation Centre. Rescue operations have been going on on a war footing for the last one week to rescue the workers. But on the sixth day of the operation, the construction company came to know that Deepak Kumar Patel, a resident of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, was also among the workers trapped in the tunnel being built on the Yamunotri National Highway. Including Deepak Kumar Patel, the number of workers from Bihar trapped in the tunnel has increased to five and the total number is 41.

According to information received from Uttarkashi District Emergency Control Room on Saturday morning, the drilling work in the tunnel is currently halted. According to this, another heavy and powerful auger machine is awaited to arrive from Indore. This machine has reached Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun from where it is being brought to Silkyara via truck. Earlier, an American auger machine was brought from Delhi to penetrate the debris in the tunnel, which by Friday afternoon had drilled 22 meters and inserted four pipes. However, later the drilling work stopped.
