Giving information on this subject on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defense said that army personnel have reached Lachen village in Sikkim on foot, which was completely cut off from external contact. Army personnel traced 113 tourists stranded there. Of these, 30 people were safely airlifted by the Air Force. Many foreign nationals are also included among the airlifted tourists.
Along with this, relief and rescue operations are going on in the area. According to the latest situation till Wednesday, 6 people are still missing, who are being searched with special teams and state-of-the-art equipment. Despite being located on unstable ground and in high Himalayan terrain, the Indian Army is standing firm here. His clear message is “Every life is precious, and every possible effort will continue.” At the same time, normal life has been badly affected by the floods in Manipur and Tripura. Assam Rifles have been extensively deployed under Operation Jal Rahat-2 to help the citizens here. Assam Rifles, under the Eastern Command of the Army, has launched a massive humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation in Manipur and Tripura under Operation Jal Rahat-2. A total of 10 teams have been actively deployed in relief and rescue operations under the supervision of Inspector General Assam Rifles. Apart from this, an additional team has been kept on standby in Haflong, so that quick action can be taken if required. Eight teams have been deployed here in Porampat, JNIMS, Wankhai and Wangkhai, which have so far evacuated 2,629 civilians in this area alone. Apart from this, medical assistance has been provided to more than 250 people and food and drinking water is being distributed widely. At the same time, 200 civilians have been rescued by deploying two teams in Chandrapur, Resham Bagan, Bhutankhal and Kamranga in the North East. They were provided immediate medical and food aid. These actions of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles are not only a proof of their strategic capability, but also reflect their dedication towards humanity. This picture of the relief operation in the difficult areas of North East India, once again proves that the Indian Army and paramilitary forces remain the shield of the countrymen in times of crisis.
