पहाड़ों में बर्फबारी और मैदानी इलाकों में बारिश से गिरा पारा, ठंड ने दी दस्तक
The weather has taken a turn in North India. While the hilly states of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have recorded the season’s first snowfall, continuous rain in the plains, including Delhi-NCR, has brought a hint of cold.
The capital’s weather completely changed after heavy rain on October 6th. Intermittent rain and cold winds throughout the day brought the maximum temperature down by about 7 degrees Celsius to 26.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature also settled at 21 degrees, bringing a chill to the mornings and evenings.
Rain clears air, drastically reduces pollution
This change in weather has affected not only the temperature but also Delhi’s air quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s AQI on Monday was 105, which falls in the ‘moderate’ category. This represents a 54-point drop compared to October 5th. This means the rain and strong winds have also cleared the air.
What will the weather be like in the coming days?
According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain is expected at many places in Delhi-NCR on October 7th. Between October 8th and 12th, the sky will remain cloudy, with sunshine playing hide and seek. Due to a western disturbance, rain and snowfall are expected to continue in the hilly areas of North India, the effects of which are also being felt in the plains.
Snowfall brings smiles to tourists’ faces
In the mountains, the first snowfall of the season in Kedarnath Dham, Himachal Pradesh, and the high altitude areas of Kashmir has further increased the cold. Amidst the snowfall, tourists visiting these areas have brightened up. The snow-capped mountains are once again attracting tourists.
