Due to continuous monsoon rains in the hilly areas of Nepal and the release of water in the Narayani river of Nepal, the risk of floods in the Terai region of India has increased. In view of this, the administration has issued a flood alert.

Today, 4 lakh 41 thousand cusecs of water was released from Nepal, due to which flood water entered many villages including Sohagibarwa. Hundreds of acres of crops were also submerged. In view of the rising water level in the rivers, the District Magistrate inspected the Jhoolanipur Barrage and Sohagibarwa area and took stock of the situation and instructed everyone to remain alert.

The water level of the Narayani river flowing in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh suddenly increased. At the same time, due to the breakage of the Maun drain in the Siwan of Gram Sabha Bari Village West Tola under Ghughli Block, crops were also damaged.

The water also reached the residential area. When the administration did not take care of it, the villagers and the farmers union blocked the intersection. Traffic was restored after the administration assured compensation by conducting a survey.

The people of Sohagibarwa said that the sugarcane and paddy crops have been damaged due to the sudden rise in the water level of the rivers and the villagers are once again facing the threat of flood.

In fact, every year, due to the floods of rivers and streams flowing from Nepal to Indian territory, hundreds of acres of crops are destroyed, while many areas of the district are completely surrounded by floods. Several dozen villages are completely cut off from contact and people are forced to leave their homes and go to higher places.

Despite all the preparations of the government and administration, the water of the disaster that came out of Nepal in the monsoon rains of 2021 caused a lot of devastation. Due to this, 120 villages of the district were affected and 66 villages were submerged. As a result, thousands of acres of crops, road culverts were submerged and the villagers suffered a lot. At the same time, the danger of flood is looming this time too.
