Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait has said that farmers should be ready for agitation on October 23.
Addressing a meeting in Mundbhar village of Muzaffarnagar, the national spokesperson of BKU said that the farmer leaders have opened a front against the arbitrariness of the electricity department. There is a gun guarding the pen and camera, that is why the farmers’ movement is being shown correctly in the foreign media instead of the Indian media.
BKU President Chaudhary Naresh Tikait has accused the departmental officials of exploiting the farmers. Farmer leaders have warned that the protest will continue until their problems are resolved.
Rakesh Tikait said that the government has broken its promise against the farmers. Their demands, including free electricity for irrigation and higher SAP for sugarcane, were not met. Due to these demands, farmers have been forced to intensify their agitation against the government. Farmers are extremely unhappy with the government for not getting adequate compensation for their produce. Sugarcane growers are not getting their dues on time. He said that BKU will protest in every district in the coming days.
The BKU leader also criticized the Center for taking steps to benefit companies at the expense of poor farmers. Tikait said that the BJP government is misusing the powers of government agencies for political gains. No political party wants to solve this problem.
Tikait said that BJP has missed the promises made to farmers in its election manifestos – be it the Lok Sabha election manifesto or the assembly election manifesto.
The farmer leader said that a big movement will be started in Muzaffarnagar on 23 October. First of all meters will be collected there. If the door of the Senior Superintendent of Police office does not open, the door will be broken with a tractor. He appealed to the farmers that no farmer of Budhana Mill should dump sugarcane at the centre. Bring sugarcane to Muzaffarnagar DM office, the same sugarcane will be put there. He said that now villages will save the country, Khap Panchayat will save it.
Rakesh Tikait said that the farmers of Haryana will also be taken help in the movement. This movement will be started from Muzaffarnagar on October 23, but no return date has been fixed. Unless the problems of the farmers are solved, the farmers will not go back home.
