Mumbai-bound flight returned to Delhi due to ‘momentary foul smell’: IndiGo

Indigo Airlines’ New Delhi-Mumbai flight returned to Delhi airport early Friday after some passengers complained of foul smell inside the plane.

Some passengers on board the plane said that they were suffocating due to the smell. He tried to find out the reason from the crew, but was given no response and was asked not to click photos or videos.

But some passengers shot a short video and sent it to Thane activist Dr Binu Varghese, who forwarded it to the concerned authorities for action.

Passengers informed Dr Varghese that they were forced to endure poor air quality for about 30 minutes during the flight this morning.

In a statement, IndiGo spokesperson confirmed that the flight (6E449) returned to Delhi due to ‘transient odour’. Following standard operating procedures, as a precautionary measure the aircraft landed back in Delhi and an alternate flight was arranged for the Mumbai bound passengers. Some passengers also mentioned the problem on social media.
