Sagar Divisional Commissioner Virendra Singh Rawat said that according to the information received so far, nine children aged between 10 and 15 years died in a wall collapse incident during a religious program in Shahpur village. Rawat said that many senior officials including the District Magistrate have reached the spot.
According to the information, due to the month of Sawan in Shahpur area under Rahli area of Sagar district, children had gathered near Hardaul temple to make Shivling with raw soil. During this time, the wall of a house collapsed. A large number of children came under the debris of the wall.
CM Mohan Yadav posted on X, “Today the mind is saddened to hear the news of 9 innocent children dying due to the collapse of the wall of a dilapidated house due to heavy rains in Shahpur of Sagar district. I have directed the district administration for proper treatment of the injured children. I pray to God with folded hands to give peace to the souls of the deceased children. I wish for the speedy recovery of other children injured in the accident. I have deep condolences to the families who have lost innocent children.
