Senior Telangana IPS officer and Director General of the state Vigilance and Enforcement Department, Rajiv Ratan, died of a heart attack in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Rajiv Ratan, who was leading the investigation into alleged corruption in the construction of the Medigadda barrage of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, was taken to a private hospital after he complained of chest pain during a morning walk, where he died.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy condoled the death of 1991 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Rajiv Ratan. He recalled the distinguished services rendered by Rajiv Ratan to the police department in the state for a long time. He said that Telangana society will never forget those officers who performed their duties efficiently and honestly.
Rajiv Ratan, during his 33-year-long career, had served as SP Karimnagar, Director General of Fire Services, Managing Director of Police Housing Corporation, Additional Director General of Police (Organization) and IG Hyderabad Zone. Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Rajiv Ratan and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
Senior IPS officer and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General CV Anand also expressed grief over the demise of his batchmate Rajiv Ratan. He wrote on ‘X’, “Just last month we went to Shillong to participate in the All India Police Golf Tournament and two Sundays ago we played at Boulder Hills. My deepest condolences to his wife and son. Now only his memories are left.
