The incidents of crime in Bihar are not stopping. After Patna, Siwan, Nalanda, now a heart-wrenching incident of murder of five members of the same family on suspicion of witchcraft has come to light in Purnia. Tejashwi Yadav has once again targeted the Nitish government regarding this incident and said that the law and order in Bihar has completely collapsed.
The entire incident is of Tetgama village of Mufassil police station area of Purnia district, where five members of the same family were first beaten to death on the charge of being witches and then burnt after pouring oil on the body and throwing it away. Police have recovered all the five bodies from Kesariya Bahiyar. Police have arrested two people in connection with the murder and have started searching for other accused. Police are trying to find out the identity of the deceased.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav claimed regarding the incident that the law and order in the state has completely collapsed. Tejashwi also mentioned many other recent murders in Bihar. He wrote on ‘X’, “Five members of a family were burnt alive in Purnia. Anarchy is at its peak in Bihar due to DK tax. DGP/Chief Secretary are helpless. Law and order has completely collapsed in the state.” He said, “Day before yesterday, three people died in a massacre in Siwan. Recently, three people died in a massacre in Buxar. Three people died in a massacre in Bhojpur. Criminals are alert, Chief Minister is unconscious. Corrupt Bhunja Party is happy, police is defeated. DK is having fun, because DK is the real boss.”
It is said that the son of Ramdev Oraon of the same village died during exorcism and the health of the other son was deteriorating. It is alleged that after this, the villagers targeted a family, considering the witch as the reason for the death. It was alleged that this family made Ramdev’s son sick. Another member of the eyewitness family, Sonu, says that about 50 to 70 people of the same village entered the house at night and started beating people with sticks.
It is alleged that Babulal Oraon, Sita Devi, Manjit Oraon, Rania Devi and Tapato Mosmat were first beaten up badly by the people and then burnt alive. After getting information about the incident, police from several police stations including senior police officers of the district reached the spot and started investigating the matter. All the bodies have been recovered by the police. Police is questioning two people including Nakul Kumar in this case. There is tension in the village after the incident.
A police officer said, “The area where this incident took place is completely a tribal area. This matter is related to exorcism and tantra-mantra. All the bodies have been recovered. All are in a burnt state. Purnia DIG Pramod Kumar Mandal said, “Initial investigation shows that five members of the same family in Tetma village were first murdered on suspicion of practicing witchcraft. It seems that the accused then burnt their bodies in the bushes. The incident happened on Sunday night.” Mandal said senior officials are present at the spot and forensic experts and dog squad are also there to assist the investigators.
