भारत बंद | देशभर में 30 करोड़ मजदूरों की मोदी सरकार के खिलाफ हड़ताल, बैंकों-परिवहन सेवाओं पर असर

Various labor and farmer organizations have jointly called for a Bharat Bandh (Bharat Bandh) across the country today, Thursday. Preparations for this bandh were already underway in several states. Its impact may vary across different regions. Markets may remain partially closed in some places, while government offices and services are also likely to be affected in others. However, the situation is not uniform across states, and local administrations are closely monitoring the situation.

The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has claimed that approximately 300 million workers are expected to participate in this strike, significantly exceeding participation in previous nationwide protests.

Several major labor organizations are involved in the strike

Several major labor organizations are involved in this movement. They say that several rounds of talks were held with the government on key issues concerning workers and farmers, but they failed to find a satisfactory solution. This is why they have adopted the nationwide bandh. Some farmer organizations have also expressed support for the strike, broadening its scope.

Will the government listen to their voices? Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also reacted to the issue, writing on social media, “Today, millions of workers and farmers across the country are on the streets to raise their voices for their rights. Workers fear that the four labor codes will weaken their rights. Farmers fear that the trade agreement will harm their livelihoods. And weakening or eliminating MNREGA could take away the last source of support for villages. When decisions concerning their future were made, their voices were ignored. Will Modiji listen now? Or is a “grip” too strong on him? I stand firmly with the issues and struggles of workers and farmers.”

Dissatisfaction with New Labor Laws

The main reason for the strike is being cited as the new labor laws. Protesting organizations allege that the new labor codes could weaken job security and give companies more power. They believe that the previous provisions better protected workers’ interests. They are demanding a review of these laws and prioritization of workers’ interests.

In addition, dissatisfaction is being expressed regarding proposals related to the power sector, agricultural drafts, and rural employment schemes. Organizations say that weakening or limiting schemes like MNREGA could impact the rural economy. Furthermore, there are demands to limit the privatization of government institutions so that the livelihoods of ordinary people are not affected.

Bank operations will also be affected

With some bank employee organizations joining in support of the strike, operations at government bank branches may be affected. Delays in cash deposits and withdrawals and check clearances are possible, although online banking and ATM services are expected to remain normal.

Bus and other public transport services may also be affected in some cities. People have been advised to check local conditions and traffic conditions before leaving home.
