बंगाल के डीजीपी का फर्जी फेसबुक अकाउंट बनाने वाला ठग, राजस्थान से गिरफ्तार
A person who allegedly tried to dupe people by opening a fake social media account of West Bengal Director General of Police Manoj Malviya was arrested by the Bidhannagar City Police of Kolata in Rajasthan. Sources gave this information on Sunday.
The fraudster has been identified as Rashim Khan, a resident of Alwar district of West Bengal. Sources said that the fake social media profile of the DGP was first noticed by the Bidhannagar City Police.
After examining the profile in detail, its authenticity was doubted. So the DGP’s office was contacted and they confirmed that the profile was fake.
A source from Bidhannagar City Police said, “We traced the criminal operating that profile from Rajasthan. A team of our people went to Rajasthan, arrested him and brought him back to Kolkata on transit remand.”
During interrogation, he admitted that he had opened a fake profile of the DGP of the state police with the intention of duping people and earning money.
He also admitted that though he had sent personal messages to some people for money through this fake profile, hardly anyone responded positively to those messages, except a few in Kerala and Karnataka.
The accused person is a graduate in mathematics. The investigating officers suspect that he is not alone in this game and perhaps he is part of a bigger racket that cheats people in a similar manner.
