The Manipur government has filed an FIR against the ‘Editors Guild of India’ for reporting on the situation of violence and tension in Manipur, which has been burning in the fire of violence for the last several months. FIR lodged against these journalists

Imphal-based social activist N Sarat Singh has filed an FIR against three journalists Seema Guha, Sanjay Kapoor and Bharat Bhushan who visited Manipur from August 7 to 10. The EGI chairman has also been mentioned as an accused in the FIR. The FIR states that EGI’s Manipur report captioned a picture of a burning building in Churachandpur district as “cookie house”. Whereas, the building which was an office of the Forest Department was set ablaze by a mob on May 3.

What did the Editors Guild of India say in the report?

Let us tell you, in the Manipur report released on Saturday, the Editors Guild of India said that there are clear indications that the state’s leadership has become partisan during the caste conflict.
