Four Dalit activists of Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) were allegedly stripped, hung upside down and thrashed with sticks by some people on suspicion of stealing goats and pigeons in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar. It is alleged that he was also urinated on.

Four Dalit activists of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) were allegedly stripped, urinated on, hung from a tree and mercilessly thrashed on suspicion of stealing goats and pigeons in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. . The police gave this information on Sunday. According to the police and local VBA activists, six men hanged the activists upside down from a tree and then thrashed them with sticks for stealing goats and pigeons from a local farmer. This incident has come to the fore from Haregaon of Shrirampur in the district.

Taking a serious note of the incident, VBA president Prakash Ambedkar called his party workers and spoke to one of the victims and his family. He said, “Victims in the caste atrocity case are in shock and are pleading for justice. I spoke to one of them and her grandmother and VBA and I will do everything to ensure justice.”

VBA vice-president Siddharth Mokle said Prakash Ambedkar would meet the families of the four youths next week. The age of the victims is around 20 years. Will be Ambedkar has assured him of all possible help in this matter. On the other hand, the police said that the incident took place on Thursday and one of the accused also made a video of the incident which later went viral on social media.

The VBA said in a statement that the attackers allegedly urinated and spit on the victims, stripped them naked, forced them to lick the spit, hung them upside down from a tree and then thrashed them severely.

In this case so far, police have detained one person while five named are still absconding and police have formed teams to nab them. They have been identified as Deepak Gaikwad, Raju Borge, Yuvraj Galande, Durgesh Vaidya and Manoj Borake.

The injured youths were taken to a local hospital and later one of them, Shubham Mogade, lodged a police complaint on Saturday. Police have registered an FIR against the accused under sections related to kidnapping, attempt to murder and atrocities on SC/ST and further investigation is underway.
