In the series of assembly elections in five states, voting is to be held on all 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh tomorrow. Out of the 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh where voting is to be held, 34 seats are from Chambal, 26 seats from Bundelkhand, 30 seats from Baghelkhand, 55 seats from Malwa, 18 seats from Nimar, 47 seats from Mahakaushal and 20 seats from Bhopal region. Voting will be held in a single phase in the state from 7 am to 6 pm and the results of the election will be declared on December 3.
In Madhya Pradesh, 22 lakh youth voters aged 18 to 19 years will vote for the first time. The number of voters in the age group of 20 to 39 in the state is 2 crore 86 lakh. Whereas the total number of voters in the state is 5 crore 60 lakh. In this, the number of male voters is 2 crore 88 lakh 25 thousand 607, while the number of female voters is 2 crore 72 lakh 33 thousand 945. The number of third gender voters is 1373. There are more than 75 thousand postal ballot employees. 64 thousand 523 polling stations have been created for 230 assembly seats. There are 17 thousand sensitive polling booths in the state. According to the Election Commission, half of the polling booths will be monitored through webcasting.
How many candidates are in the electoral fray?
The fate of 2533 candidates, including 2,280 men, 252 women and one of third gender, is at stake in the state assembly seats. In this, BJP-Congress have fielded candidates on all 230 seats. Apart from this, Bahujan Samaj Party has fielded 181 candidates. Aam Aadmi Party has 66 candidates and SP has 71 candidates in the fray. Whereas, the number of independent candidates is 1166. This time a transgender candidate has also contested the assembly elections. Aam Aadmi Party has given ticket to Chanda Didi from Badamalhara seat of Chhatarpur.
How many women were given tickets?
BJP has fielded women candidates on 30 out of 230 seats in the state. Whereas Congress has given tickets to women on 203 seats. Let us tell you that out of 230 seats, 35 seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC). Whereas 47 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST).
Strong security arrangements
This time, webcasting will take place at 50 percent of polling stations in Madhya Pradesh. In the last election, webcasting was done only at 10 percent polling stations, but this time 35 thousand webcasting is taking place. Chief Election Officer Anupam Rajan says that this time every voting action will be captured on camera, so voters should vote openly. Mock poll will be held 90 minutes before the start of voting. Which seats will you keep an eye on?
There is tough competition on many seats of the state including Budhni, Chhindwara and Raghogarh, in which the credibility of many veteran leaders including Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Kamal Nath is at stake. BJP has fielded Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan from Budhni seat of Sehore district. Chauhan became MLA from Budhni for the first time in 1990. Has won elections from here four consecutive times. He has become CM of the state maximum four times. Everyone’s eyes will be fixed on Datia seat also. From here, BJP has placed its bet on Madhya Pradesh Home Minister and Jail Minister Narottam Mishra. Mishra became MLA for the first time in 1990. He has been a minister in the BJP government since 2003. Also, BJP’s National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has been given ticket from Indore 1 seat of Indore district. Vijayvargiya has been MLA and Mayor of Indore five times. Apart from this, BJP has made Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar its candidate from Dimani in Morena district. Tomar is the Lok Sabha MP from Morena. Meanwhile, five-time Lok Sabha MP Prahlad Singh Patel is contesting the assembly elections for the first time from Narsinghpur seat of Mahakaushal region.
Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath has been fielded by Congress from Chhindwara in Mahakaushal region. Has been MP from Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat 9 times. Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath is the MP from this seat. Whereas the party has given ticket to Laxman Singh, brother of former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, from Chachaura seat of Guna district. Lakshman Singh has been a three-time MLA and five-time Lok Sabha MP. Congress has placed its bets on Digvijay Singh’s son Jaivardhan Singh from Raghogarh seat of Guna district. Jaivardhan Singh has been an MLA twice and also a minister. Also, Ajay Singh, son of former CM Arjun Singh, has been given ticket from Churhat seat of Sidhi district. Ajay Singh has been MLA six times. Apart from this, MP Congress working president Jitu Patwari has been made the candidate from Rau seat of Indore district.
