Deepak Verma, the accused of raping a girl under Alambagh metro station on Wednesday night, was killed in a police encounter with Lucknow police. The accused used to sell water in the railways. The incident happened on Wednesday night, when the little girl was sleeping under the metro station with her parents. The accused picked up the girl from there and took her nearby and raped her. The girl is admitted in the hospital and her treatment is going on.
After this incident, DCP Central had formed 5 teams to arrest the accused. The police found the accused Deepak Verma within 24 hours. When the police stopped him at the Cantt-Alambag border late night on Devikheda Road, the accused opened fire on the police. In retaliation, the accused was injured by a police bullet. After this, he was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. DCP Central’s crime team and Alambagh police team were involved in this encounter.
Police statement
DCP Central Lucknow Ashish Srivastava said, “A complaint was lodged on June 5 at 10 am that a two and a half year old girl was raped. A case was registered and five teams were formed. According to the scooter seen on the CCTV footage, the accused was identified as Deepak Verma. After this, a proposal was made to the Police Commissioner to declare a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Within 20 hours, there was an encounter between the police team and the accused. The accused was injured and was sent to the hospital for treatment in critical condition, where the doctors declared him dead.”
The condition of the victim girl is critical
The victim girl is a disabled person. After raping the girl, the accused thought she was dead and threw her in the bushes. During this, there were blood marks on the way from where he took the girl. Seeing the critical condition of the girl, she was admitted to Lokbandhu Hospital, from here she was referred to KGMU. The treatment of the girl is going on and her condition is said to be critical. According to the doctors, the girl has injuries in her private parts. Now her condition remains stable.
