बिहार में AIMPLB का वक्फ संशोधन बिल के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन, लालू-तेजस्वी यादव हुए शामिल
The nationwide ‘movement’ by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board against the Waqf Amendment Bill has started today from Bihar’s capital Patna. Muslim organizations have gathered at Patna’s Gardanibagh Dharna Sthal. A large number of people have joined this protest. RJD national president Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav also reached to join the protest.
Tejashwi Yadav said in the protest that brotherhood is being destroyed, democracy is ending. He said, “Our party RJD, our leader Lalu Prasad Yadav have come here to support you, we all have come to strengthen your hands. At any cost, whether we are in power or not, we have opposed this unconstitutional, undemocratic bill in the House, Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad. Today we brought an adjournment motion and demanded a discussion on it, but the House was adjourned. We want to tell you that we stand with you in this. Our effort is that this bill should not be passed at any cost.”
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board has termed this bill as unconstitutional. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board on Sunday announced a nationwide agitation against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, with massive protests planned in front of the state assemblies in Patna and Vijayawada on March 26 and 29 respectively as the first phase.
Why is the AIMPLB opposing the Waqf Bill?
The AIMPLB and the Muslim community say that the Waqf Amendment Bill is a serious threat to the religious and constitutional rights of Muslims. They say that Waqf properties are not government properties but religious trusts and this bill is a serious attack on the autonomy of Waqf.
It is being said on behalf of the Muslim community that the Waqf Amendment Bill has been brought to systematically weaken Muslim properties and their institutions. This bill makes extensive changes to the existing Waqf Act of 1995. This gives the government more power to interfere in the management of Waqf properties.
