The body of a missing retired soldier trapped in a honey trap was recovered from a lake in Karnataka’s Kodagu district on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Sandesh, a resident of Ukkuda near Madikeri town. Sandesh had alleged in his suicide note that a woman named Jeevitha and a police officer named Satish had harassed him.
The fire force and emergency services and police personnel recovered the body from Pampinakere lake near Madikeri town on Wednesday night.
According to the police, the retired soldier was married. He was trapped by the accused woman, who recorded his private moments in photos and videos.
Later, he took the help of another accused who is his friend and blackmailed the retired army man. The accused had demanded Rs 50 lakh from him, this amount was to be given to Sandesh from the army.
However, unable to tolerate the harassment, he told everything to his wife. After this, he wrote a letter telling about the torture of the accused and his friend and committed suicide by jumping into the lake. The suicide note was found on Tuesday and his belongings were found near the lake on Wednesday. A special team was called from Dakshina Kannada to locate the body. The body of the deceased soldier was found in the lake itself. His wife has lodged a police complaint in this regard. Further investigation is underway.
