K’taka ex-DGP murder: Wife sent to judicial custody, daughter admitted to NIMHANS

In the murder case of former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash, his wife has been sent to judicial custody. DGP’s wife Pallavi was sent to 14-day judicial custody. At the same time, his daughter was admitted to Nimhans Hospital for mental health evaluation.

Pallavi had informed the police about the murder of her husband. After this, police officers of South East Division reached the spot and started the investigation by interrogating the deceased’s wife and daughter.

Om Prakash had said that his life was in danger some time ago. The police already suspected that a close relative might be involved in this murder.

Let us tell you that former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash was murdered in his residence at HSR Layout in Bengaluru. He was a retired IPS officer of 1981 batch. Preliminary investigation has revealed that he was stabbed to death. His body was found on the ground floor of the three-storey house, which had serious injury marks.

It is noteworthy that former DGP Om Prakash was a resident of Champaran district of Bihar. He had done post-graduation in geology. During his tenure, he served as Director General of Karnataka Home Guards and Fire Brigade and as Director General of Police of the state from 2015 to 2017. He has served in many positions. He served as SP of Karnataka Vigilance Cell, served in Lokayukta, DIG of Fire Services and IGP of CID.

He played an important role during the 1993 Bhatkal communal riots and served in senior positions like DIG (Administration), DIG (Northern Range), DIG (Training), ADGP (Crime and Technical Services) and ADGP (Complaints and Human Rights). He took over as DGP on February 28, 2015 and retired in 2017.
