Ritu Bahri becomes Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court, Governor Gurmeet administers oath
उत्तराखंड उच्च न्यायालय की मुख्य न्यायाधीश बनीं ऋतु बाहरी
Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Gurmeet Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court Kumari Ritu Bahri at Raj Bhavan, Dehradun on Sunday.
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi read out the warrant by the President of India appointing Justice Kumari Ritu as the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, MP Naresh Bansal, Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan, Registrar General of Nainital High Court Ashish Naithani, Secretary were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Governor Ravinath Raman, Legal Advisor Amit Kumar Sirohi, senior justices, senior officials and other distinguished guests were present.
Let us tell you that Justice Bahri is the first woman from outside to hold the post of Chief Justice. Before becoming the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand, Justice Bahri was a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The post was vacant in the Uttarakhand High Court after the retirement of Justice Vipin Sanghi in October last year and Justice Manoj Tiwari was serving as the acting Chief Justice.
