A cloudburst in the upper reaches of Rajgarh area of Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday caused massive destruction. So far three people have died in the flash flood-like situation, while four people are still reported missing.
According to the administration, the heavy rain and water flow was so strong that many houses were damaged, some of which were completely washed away. Seeing the serious situation, relief and rescue work was started immediately. SDRF and local police teams are continuously conducting search operations. The affected families are being taken to safe places and lodged in temporary relief camps.
Officials said that due to heavy rains, the water level of rivers and streams is continuously rising, so people have been advised to remain alert. Additional teams will also be sent to the affected areas if needed.
It is worth noting that earlier on August 14, a cloudburst incident also took place in Chishoti village of Kishtwar district, in which at least 60 people were killed and many were injured and missing. At that time, strong flash floods had washed away the camps, houses and bridges of the devotees.
