There is a wave of mourning in Jharkhand over the death of Shibu Soren. The state government has announced three days of state mourning in his honour.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha founder and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren died on August 4 at the age of 81. His son and current Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren confirmed the sad news. Known as ‘Dishom Guru’, Shibu Soren was admitted to Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi for the last one month, where he was in the ICU due to kidney disease and brain stroke.
The monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly has been adjourned indefinitely in deep mourning of the demise of Jharkhand movement pioneer, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha founder and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren. This session of the Assembly was scheduled to run till August 7.
As soon as the proceedings of the House began on Monday, Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahato informed with grief about the death of Shibu Soren. He said, “Today is a very sad day for the politics and society of Jharkhand. Dishom Guru is no more among us. He dedicated every moment of his life for the underprivileged, tribals and the identity of Jharkhand. The departure of this great warrior who took Jharkhand from darkness to light is an irreparable loss not only for this state but for the whole of India.
After the address of the Speaker of the Assembly, there was silence in the entire House for some time. Then the MLAs stood up and paid their emotional tribute to him with slogans of ‘Veer Shibu Soren Amar Rahe’, ‘Dishom Guru Amar Rahe’. Leaders of all parties remembered Shibu Soren’s political life, his contribution to the upliftment of tribal society and his central role in the Jharkhand movement.
On the other hand, a wave of mourning has spread among his supporters and JMM workers in Jharkhand. The state government has announced three days of state mourning in his honor. Shibu Soren was born on 11 January 1944 in Nemra village of Hazaribagh. His death has been deeply saddened by the politics of Jharkhand. It is being considered the end of an era. Details about his funeral will be shared soon.
