An Army jawan was killed in an encounter between security forces and suspected terrorists during a search operation in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. They said that firing took place in Dudu-Basantgarh area during a cordon and search operation based on information about the presence of terrorists.
The White Knight Corps said on ‘X’, “Based on specific intelligence input, a joint operation was launched with Jammu and Kashmir Police in Basantgarh area of Udhampur today.”
He said that when the two sides came face to face, heavy firing started. The Army said, “One of our brave soldiers was seriously injured in the initial firing and later could not be saved despite best medical efforts.” He said that the encounter was going on till the last information came.
