Jammu and Kashmir | 3 CRPF soldiers killed, 15 injured in Udhampur as bunker vehicle falls into drain

There were 23 soldiers in the vehicle. Two soldiers died on the spot, while 16 others were injured. They were taken to a hospital, where another soldier died during treatment. Sinha said that he was deeply saddened by the death of CRPF personnel.

Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and 15 others injured when a vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a drain in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday, officials said. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Minister Jitendra Singh expressed grief over the death of the jawans and directed the officials to provide the best treatment and all possible assistance to the injured jawans.

The accident took place in Kadva area around 10.30 am when the jawans were returning from an operation in Basantgarh in a bunker vehicle. The vehicle belonged to the 187 battalion of the CRPF.

There were 23 jawans in the vehicle. Two jawans died on the spot while 16 others were injured. They were taken to a hospital, where another jawan died during treatment. Sinha said that he was deeply saddened by the death of the CRPF personnel.

He said in a post on ‘X’, “We will never forget their exemplary service to the nation. My condolences are with the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. Have instructed senior officers to provide the best possible treatment and extend all possible assistance.”

Singh also condoled the loss of lives and said “the vehicle was carrying several brave CRPF jawans.”

The Union minister said he has spoken to Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, who is personally monitoring the situation.

He said, “Rescue operations have been started immediately. Locals have voluntarily come forward to help. All possible help is being ensured.”
