A case of landslide has come to light in Jakhan village, about 5 km ahead of Langha in Vikasnagar block of Uttarakhand. Landslide has damaged 9 residential buildings and 7 cow sheds in Jakhan.
The villagers have left the village and reached safer places. Fortunately, as it was day time, all the people of the village had left in time, due to which there was no loss of life.

In the afternoon, there was commotion in some houses one by one in Jakhan village, due to which people got scared. Before the villagers could understand anything, the wall of a house collapsed. The pillars of other houses fell and in no time some houses were completely destroyed. The incident created hue and cry in the village. In a hurry, people left everything with women, children and their domesticated cattle and immediately ran towards safe places.
The villagers also left their bikes, cars etc. in the village itself. In no time, most of the houses in the village got damaged due to landslides, big cracks are being seen in the land of the village. However, due to fear no one is going near the village.
The villagers have informed the Vikasnagar Kotwali police about the incident. The team of SDRF and Kotwali police Vikasnagar has reached for rescue on the spot. The district administration has also been informed about the incident. The affected persons are being shifted to a safer place by the district administration, SDRF and local police. Ration is being arranged for the affected persons. Additional District Magistrate Finance and Revenue Ramjisharan Sharma and officers of all departments including Revenue Department are present on the spot. The team of 108 ambulance service, Lonivi, Electricity Department is present on the spot.
