On Thursday, just before an Indigo flight from Nagpur to Pune, a pilot of the same flight fainted and fell at the boarding gate. He was declared brought dead after being taken to the hospital.
An Indigo spokesperson said, “We are saddened by the demise of one of our pilots in Nagpur. He fell ill at the Nagpur airport and was taken to the hospital where he unfortunately passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.
This is the third case of sudden death of pilots this week, two of whom are Indian.
An experienced pilot of Qatar Airways was traveling from Delhi to Doha as a passenger on Wednesday. He died after falling seriously ill on the way. Flight QR 579 was diverted midway to Dubai. Significantly, this pilot was earlier associated with Alliance Air and SpiceJet.
