Indian shooter Avani Lekhara wins gold medal in women’s 10m air rifle event at Hangzhou Asian Para Games

Avani Lekhara has won the gold medal in the Asian Para Games 2023 being played in Hangzhou, China. He scored 249.6 points.

Indian players are showering medals in the Asian Para Games 2023 being played in Hangzhou, China. India’s famous shooter Avani Lekhara has won the gold medal in R2 10m Air Rifle Stand SH1. He scored 249.6 points. Avni has created a new Asian Para Games record. Other Indian para shooter Mona Agarwal finished sixth in the standings.

Who is Avani Lekhara?

Avani Lekhara is a famous para shooter of India. He was born in November 2001 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. She became a victim of a road accident in 2012. Since then he has to sit on a wheelchair. Despite all the difficulties, Avni’s courage did not diminish. His father also encouraged him a lot towards sports. Initially he was trained in archery.

Inspired by former Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra, he started his shooting career in 2015. Avni started her career with Junior World Records. His career skyrocketed at the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics. She became the first Indian female Paralympian to win two medals (gold, bronze) in Paralympic history. Avni has also received Padmashree and Khel Ratna awards.
