Employees from various companies across different sectors of Noida took to the streets on Monday, demanding a wage hike. Heavy traffic congestion was reported in several areas, ranging from Noida Sectors 62 and 59 to other localities.

Noida | On Monday, thousands of employees in Noida took to the streets to stage a massive protest. This demonstration was held in opposition to companies failing to fulfill promises regarding salary increments and working hours.
Employees’ Allegations
The employees allege that, despite rising inflation, their salaries have not been increased—even though the companies had previously assured them that increments would be granted. As a result of the protest, traffic movement in several key areas of the city was completely disrupted. The impact was most pronounced in the Sector-62 area, where a large number of employees took to the roads and blocked the thoroughfare.
Long Traffic Jams Around Sector-62
Consequently, long queues of vehicles formed on the routes leading from Sector-62 towards Sector-16 and NH-9. Office-goers, school buses, and general commuters faced severe inconvenience. The protesting employees stated that, due to continuously rising inflation, it has become difficult for them to manage their household expenses. They alleged that companies merely offer assurances but back out of their promises when the time comes to fulfill them.
Employees’ Warning
The employees also warned that if their demands are not met soon, they will further intensify and expand their agitation. Given the gravity of the situation, the police administration immediately rushed to the scene and attempted to bring the situation under control. However, due to the large number of protesters, it took a considerable amount of time to restore normal traffic flow. The police also appealed to the public to use alternative routes.
Protests Across Several Locations in Noida
Meanwhile, the impact of the protests was also felt in other industrial zones of Noida. Workers employed in several industrial areas—including Sector-1—also took to the streets. As a precautionary measure, the administration has deployed a heavy police force around various industrial units to prevent any untoward incidents.
Currently, there is speculation regarding the possibility of dialogue between the administration and the company management. It is hoped that a resolution will emerge soon to pacify the employees’ anger and restore normalcy to the city.
