Team India has created history by winning the second Test of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series between India and England cricket teams. Akashdeep’s claw
Akashdeep bowled brilliantly in the second innings against England and took 6 wickets. This is the first five-wicket haul of his Test career. He did not give the England batsmen a chance to stay at the crease. Jamie Smith scored the highest 88 runs for England in the second innings. Captain Ben Stokes scored 33 runs but he could not extend his innings. Ben Duckett scored 25 runs. In the second innings, apart from Akashdeep, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar took one wicket each for the Indian team.
Shubman Gill’s double century
India scored 587 runs while batting first against England. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja played brilliant innings for the team. It was because of these players that India was able to score as big as a mountain. Gill displayed brilliant batting and scored 269 runs, which included 30 fours and three sixes. Apart from him, Jaiswal scored 87 and Jadeja scored 89 runs. In the end, Washington Sundar also contributed 42 runs. Shoaib Bashir took the maximum three wickets for England.
Brook and Jamie Smith’s 303-run partnership
After this, England had a very bad start in the first innings, Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope could not even open their account. Both these players took England out of trouble by making a record partnership of 303 runs for the sixth wicket. But after this Mohammad Siraj and Akashdeep brought India back into the match. Siraj took 6 wickets in the first innings. Akash Deep took four wickets. When Brook and Jamie were out, the entire England team was out for 407 runs. Thus India got a lead of 180 runs on the basis of the first innings.
Gill also scored a century in the second innings
After taking a lead of 180 runs in the first innings, the morale of the Indian team was high. After this, in the second innings also, the Indian batsmen batted well and declared their innings at 427 runs. In this innings, once again Shubman Gill became the biggest hero for India. He scored 161 runs. Apart from him, KL Rahul scored 55 runs, Rishabh Pant scored 65 runs and Ravindra Jadeja scored 69 runs. These batsmen scored runs very easily against the English bowlers.
India’s first win
India has played 69 Test matches against England in the last 93 years since 1932. Before this match, India had never won at Edgbaston. India has played 8 matches on this ground since 1967, out of which it lost 7 and one match was drawn. Now India has opened its account of victory by winning the ninth match on this ground. Interestingly, this is the first time in the last 58 years that India has won a Test match on this ground. The third Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar series will be played at the historic Lord’s ground in London from July 10.
