Five people died on the spot and one person was critically injured in a road accident early Sunday morning on the Jabalpur-Amarkantak National Highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori district. A police official provided this information.
The official stated that the accident occurred when a truck ran over six people who were standing on the roadside. He explained that all the victims were returning to their village in a pickup vehicle when one of its tires went flat near Kikratalab village. The individuals had stepped out of the pickup and were standing on the road.
Dindori Superintendent of Police Vahini Singh confirmed that five people, including the pickup driver, died at the scene, while one person sustained critical injuries and has been admitted to a hospital.
“While the driver was fixing the flat tire, all the passengers stepped out of the vehicle. It was at that moment that a truck ran them over,” she said.
She added that the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The police have arrested the truck driver and seized the vehicle.
