Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi will be the first woman Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand. Official sources said here that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given his approval in this regard. The tenure of the current Chief Secretary Dr. MS Sandhu is ending on Wednesday, January 31, so now Radha Raturi can take his place.
Radha Raturi is an Indian Administrative Service officer of the year 1988 batch and is considered an honest and strict officer. She will now replace Chief Secretary Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, whose tenure is ending on Wednesday. Earlier, he was also given an extension of six months after retirement, Sandhu’s extension is also being completed now. After Radha Raturi takes charge, she will be the first woman officer to reach this top post of the state.
Who is Radha Raturi
The state of Uttarakhand came into existence in November 2000. From then till today no woman officer has been able to reach this top administrative post. She will be the first woman officer to handle this responsibility. During his long administrative career, Raturi has handled many important responsibilities. These days she is holding the charge of Additional Chief Secretary and is among CM Dhami’s favorite officers.
Let us tell you that Radha Raturi has also held the post of District Magistrate of districts like Dehradun and Tehri. Apart from being the first woman officer to hold the top post in the state of Uttarakhand, it is also the first time in the history of the state that both husband and wife have reached the top positions. Let us tell you that her husband Anil Raturi has been an Indian Police Service officer who retired in November 2020 after assuming the responsibility of Director General of Police in the state.
