A massive fire broke out in a perfume factory in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh this evening. One death has occurred in the incident, while 31 people are injured. State Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil, who reached the spot, said that nine people were missing. Fire extinguishing work will continue throughout the night.

A massive fire broke out in a cosmetic-perfume manufacturing factory in Baddi industrial area of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh on Friday, in which about 84 workers got trapped inside the factory. During this time, some workers jumped from the roof of the factory to save their lives. Five laborers who were seriously injured after jumping from the roof were brought to Chandigarh PGI, where one laborer died during treatment, while the remaining four suffered serious head and spinal injuries. All the other laborers trapped in the factory were taken out by the fire brigade and NDRF team after a lot of effort.
Deputy Commissioner of Solan district Manmohan Sharma said that there were 84 workers in the factory when the fire broke out. Of these, 31 workers have been injured. A laborer has died. After the fire, some workers jumped from the first and second floors of the factory to save their lives. These laborers have suffered injuries to their hands, legs and spine. Manmohan Sharma said that the cause of the fire has not been known yet. A forensic team is investigating.
NDRF team also reached for rescue
Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma said that after the fire, police, fire brigade and NDRF teams reached the spot. The fire brigade and NDRF team brought the fire under control after a lot of hard work. After the fire was controlled, the workers trapped inside the factory were taken out safely. 32 laborers injured in the accident were taken to the hospital, out of which five seriously injured were taken to Chandigarh PGI, six to ESI, two to Baddi Hospital and 19 to Brooklyn Hospital.
Treatment going on in Chandigarh PGI
Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma said that one laborer among the injured has died. Of the other 31 injured, 21 are women. The five seriously injured laborers who were taken to PGI include Aarti, Geeta, Prem Kumari, Pinky and Charan Singh. On the question of fire brigade vehicles not arriving on time, Manmohan Sharma said that 12-13 fire brigade vehicles were sent to the spot from Nalagarh, Baddi and Parwanoo, Haryana, Chandimandir Army Station. NDRF team also reached the spot.
Climbed onto factory roof to save life
Eyewitnesses present at the spot said that heavy smoke was coming out after the fire in the cosmetic-perfume company. Controlling the fire was being hampered due to the thick smoke. To save their lives, some workers climbed onto the roof of the factory and jumped from there. Fire brigade officials said that the fire has been brought under control. The causes of the fire are being investigated. All the laborers trapped inside have been rescued. Inflammable substances used in making cosmetic items and perfumes catch fire and spread rapidly.
