His last rites were performed at the crematorium in Una district on Saturday afternoon. Simmi’s daughter Aastha lit the pyre here in the presence of ministers, leaders of various political parties and a large number of people. Simmi suffered a heart attack late on Friday evening, after which she was being taken to Max Hospital, Chandigarh, but she died on the way. His mortal remains were brought to his native village Goindpur Jai Chand from Chandigarh at 4 am.

After which he was taken to Chandigarh late in the evening in critical condition for treatment. During this time Simmi died on the way. According to family members, on Friday Simmi started feeling difficulty in breathing. After this he was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali, where doctors declared him dead.
