Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri’s wife Simmi Agnihotri died of a heart attack. She was 56 years old. His last rites were performed at the crematorium in Una district on Saturday afternoon. Simmi’s daughter Aastha lit the pyre here in the presence of ministers, leaders of various political parties and a large number of people. Simmi suffered a heart attack late on Friday evening, after which she was being taken to Max Hospital, Chandigarh, but she died on the way. His mortal remains were brought to his native village Goindpur Jai Chand from Chandigarh at 4 am.

Aastha also shouldered her mother’s bier along with her father Mukesh Agnihotri and Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Many leaders including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and Union Minister Anurag Thakur, former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal have expressed grief over the demise of Simmi Agnihotri. He wrote on Facebook, Our dear Simi Agnihotri has left us and Aastha. According to the information, Simmi Agnihotri suddenly fell ill at her residence in Gondpur Jaichand on Friday. After which he was taken to Chandigarh late in the evening in critical condition for treatment. During this time Simmi died on the way. According to family members, on Friday Simmi started feeling difficulty in breathing. After this he was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali, where doctors declared him dead.
