The Chandigarh-Manali National Highway (NH-3) was blocked following a fresh landslide early in the morning near the Pandoh Dam in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district. The incident occurred around 4 am when huge boulders and debris fell on the road, severely damaging a portion of the highway.

A landslide has occurred once again at Kainchimod in Pandoh on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway. At the same place where the landslide had occurred yesterday, this morning, large boulders have again come down from the mountain to the road. Due to which the movement of vehicles on the National Highway has once again come to a halt. Many vehicles have also got stuck in the jam due to the landslide.
Police team deployed on the spot
Meanwhile, a family from Kangra district, who are going to Nurpur with the dead body of their deceased relative, are stuck in the jam near Kainchimod for the last 5 hours. Due to the non-arrival of NHAI machinery at the spot even till 8:30, some people are leaving their vehicles and going towards their destination on foot. However, now the machinery has reached the spot and the debris is being removed from the highway. This landslide has occurred near Kainchimod at 3 am today. The team of Pandoh outpost is deployed on the spot since morning, so that an untoward incident can be avoided in case of a landslide again.
The highway was restored after 9 hours
It is worth noting that a massive landslide had occurred at this point near Kainchimod yesterday. The road leading to Shivabdar village just above the highway has collapsed. Due to which the arrangement of alternative route to Pandoh Dam had also come to a complete halt. The highway was restored after 9 hours of hard work yesterday. Now, the highway has come to a standstill once again.

At the same time, the river side of the four-lane above Kainchimod has also collapsed, due to which vehicles are already passing in one direction here. Apart from this, due to landslides at various places from Kainchimod to Diod Tunnel, vehicles are passing through here risking their lives. The district administration has appealed to the drivers to drive carefully after incidents of landslides have come to light at various places on this highway.
Heavy rain alert
At the same time, the rain will continue in Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the rain will continue till August 7. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert in the state regarding heavy rain. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Bilaspur, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur.
