Three motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly shot the headmaster of a government school in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, killing him. An assistant teacher was also injured in the incident, police said on Wednesday.
Shot for resisting gold chain robbery
According to police, Devendra Yadav (57), a resident of Yadav Nagar in Bilthrar Road town, under the district’s Ubhaon police station area, was returning home on a motorcycle with Kanchan Singh, an assistant teacher from the same school, after attending a cluster meeting at a government composite school in Deoria district on Tuesday. Three criminals on a motorcycle snatched their gold chain near Sahunpur village. Police said the criminals shot Devendra Yadav when he resisted.
They said Devendra Yadav and Kanchan Singh, a resident of Bibipur locality in Bilthrar Road, were seriously injured in the incident and were immediately rushed to the community health center, where doctors referred Yadav to Ballia due to his critical condition.
Four police teams were formed.
Police said Yadav was transported from Ballia to Mau and then to the trauma center in Varanasi. Devendra Yadav died on the way to Varanasi late Tuesday evening. Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh said an FIR has been registered and four police teams have been formed to investigate the matter.
