Four laborers from Uttar Pradesh and a contractor died of suffocation in a hotel room in Kurukshetra, Haryana, allegedly due to fumes from a charcoal brazier. Police provided this information on Tuesday.

A shocking incident has come to light from Kurukshetra district in Haryana. Five people have reportedly died in a hotel room due to smoke from a charcoal brazier. All the deceased are said to be residents of Uttar Pradesh. Four of them have been identified as laborers and one as a contractor. It is suspected that they all died of suffocation. The police are currently investigating the matter. All five were found dead in the hotel room.
Laborers were working on a painting project at the hotel
According to Kurukshetra Police Station इंचार्ज Dinesh Rana, the deceased were residents of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. They had come to Kurukshetra to work on a painting project at a hotel near the district jail. When the room remained locked until late Tuesday morning, hotel staff tried to wake them up. Receiving no response from inside the room, the hotel manager and the police were informed. Upon opening the room, all five individuals were found unconscious and were later declared dead.
Charcoal brazier found in the room
Police Station इंचार्ज Dinesh Rana said that a charcoal brazier was found inside the closed room, and preliminary assessment suggests that the deaths were caused by inhaling poisonous gas. The bodies have been sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination. The police said that further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report. The police suspect that they died of suffocation due to the smoke from the burning brazier inside the room.
Three people die of suffocation in Odisha
It is worth noting that a similar incident occurred on Monday in Dhenkanal district of Odisha. The bodies of a mother and her two sons were recovered from a locked house in Asanbenia Colony Sahi under Kantabania police station area. The deceased were identified as Golap Sahu (56) and her two sons, Bharat Sahu (32) and Lipun Sahu (24). Initially, it is suspected that the three died from suffocation after burning a charcoal brazier inside their room to keep warm while they slept. It is believed the incident occurred due to the accumulation of smoke in the closed room.
