Although as per the rules, pharmaceutical companies can increase the rates only by 10 percent in a year, but this time the rates have been increased by 2 percent more i.e. 12 percent more.

According to media reports, in the last few years, products related to the pharma sector have become costlier by 15 to 100 percent. These products include paracetamol, glycerin, propylene glycol, syrup, solvents etc. Penicillin also became expensive. Due to this, Indian drug manufacturers sought permission from the government to increase the prices of medicine formulations by about 10 percent. He also wanted to increase the prices of other medicines by 20 percent, but the government gave him permission to increase the prices by 12 percent. In the year 2023, pharmaceutical companies had increased the rates by 11 percent.
