Aaj Tak reported, quoting administrative sources, that armed miscreants set several houses on fire in Liton Sariikhong village in Ukhrul district. During the incident, several rounds were fired in the air near the hilly area, spreading panic throughout the area. The firing and arson created panic in the village.
People forced to flee the village in an atmosphere of fear
Following the violence, many villagers left for safer areas with their essential belongings. Some are reported to have fled to the neighboring Kangpokpi district. Meanwhile, several residents of Tangkhul village have also been reported to have left the area. The situation escalated to the point where people were extremely concerned about their safety.
A dispute that began with a scuffle escalated into violence.
According to the administration, the violence stems from an incident on Saturday night. A man from the Tangkhul Naga community was allegedly assaulted by seven or eight people in Liton village. Initially, it was hoped that the matter would be resolved through talks, but a meeting planned for Sunday failed to take place.
The situation then escalated at midnight on Monday. Armed miscreants set fire to homes belonging to the Tangkhul Naga community in Liton Sariikhong village. In response, homes belonging to the other community were also reportedly targeted. Police confirmed that a house in K. Lungwiram village was also partially burned.

Internet Shutdown to Prevent Rumors
The government order states that shutting down internet services is necessary to effectively manage the situation and prevent the spread of misinformation that could further escalate tensions.
