Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and senior Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi passed away. It is being told that he breathed his last at Hinduja Hospital at 3 pm. He was 86 years old. He was feeling unwell for the last two days, after which he was admitted to Hinduja Hospital. Doctors say that Manohar Joshi suffered a heart attack and was undergoing treatment in the ICU.
Born on 2 December 1937 in Mahad, Maharashtra, Joshi graduated in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Mumbai. Joshi’s political journey started by joining Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and later he became a member of Shiv Sena.
Manohar Joshi was one of the closest associates of Shiv Sena founder late Balasaheb Thackeray. He was considered a very trusted and close associate of Balasaheb. Manohar Joshi was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999 and was the first leader from the undivided Shiv Sena to become the Chief Minister of the state. He has also been an MP and held the post of Speaker of the Lok Sabha in the Vajpayee government at the Center from 2002 to 2004.
