Botad (Gujarat): Flood-like situation has arisen in Saurashtra, South Gujarat due to heavy rains.

Heavy to very heavy rains are occurring in many states of the country. An alert has been issued regarding excessive rain in the areas of the southern states. Many areas of Gujarat have been flooded due to heavy rains. At the same time, very heavy rains are expected in Karnataka for the next two days. IMD has issued an alert for many areas.
CM Bhupendra Patel gave guidelines
Due to floods in Gujarat, life has come to a standstill in many areas. Meanwhile, the state CM Bhupendra Patel has tweeted and instructed the district officials. He wrote, “In view of heavy rains in various districts of Saurashtra and South Gujarat, necessary instructions have been given to the District Collectors to take steps to protect the lives and property of the citizens. Necessary guidelines have been issued to evacuate people to safe places with immediate effect as per the forecast of the Meteorological Department and to be prepared with full vigilance and foresight in matters including rapid drainage of stagnant water, electricity and food supply, health and life saving medicines. Collectors have also been urged to keep instructing citizens to be cautious in heavy rains and not to cross rivers, drains or flowing water.” Heavy rain warning in many states
India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Puviarasan said, “Karnataka has been receiving very heavy rainfall for two days, heavy rains have occurred in Udupi, North Karnataka, South Karnataka. Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru have also received very heavy rains. This rain is likely to continue for the next 48 hours. We have issued a red alert for today and an orange alert for tomorrow in coastal Karnataka. Heavy to very heavy rains may also occur in Belgaum, Dharwad, an orange alert has been issued there too. After 2 days, the rain will reduce slightly across Karnataka, light to moderate rains may occur. Bengaluru is continuously cloudy and strong winds are blowing. No alert has been issued for Bengaluru, strong winds may blow along with light rains in Bengaluru.”
Conditions favorable for the advancement of monsoon
The monsoon is in its pace. Heavy rains are occurring in many parts of the country. The Meteorological Department estimates that there will be more rain in the coming days. IMD has predicted that heavy to very heavy rains may occur in many areas for the next 72 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, today (16 June Heavy Rain) conditions are favorable for the advance of monsoon in some parts of Gujarat, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and some more parts of Odisha. The Meteorological Department has also forecast that during the next 3 days, conditions are favorable for the advance of southwest monsoon in some parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
