At least five people, including two children, were killed and several others injured when a truck slammed into a roadside tent in Trishul district of Kerala on Tuesday morning. Police reported this.
The nomads were sleeping in their tents along the national highway at Nattika under Valpar police station area when they were crushed by the truck at 4.30am, police said.
The injured have been admitted to the Thrissur Government Medical College Hospital where two are said to be in critical condition, he said.
Police said the dead included two children aged 1.5 and 4 years and two women. The driver and crew of the vehicle have been taken into custody, he said.
